Artist's Description
I just had to paint sunflowers. They are so symbolic during these difficult times. This painting is different from my other paintings. You may see that I didn’t pay as much attention to details as I usually do. I wanted to paint it more freely. When I was painting it, I kept one word in my mind – freedom. My brushstrokes were more loose than usual. I wasn’t trying to keep within the pencil lines at all costs. I just let the brush and colors do their own thing. I added some red spots, which symbolize blood and water drops symbolizing tears. I just had to express somehow my feelings about what is happening now in Ukraine. This was more of an expressive painting.
